Stephen Stecina

I help the right ideas win.

Motion design, creative systems, and honest advice, from someone who’s actually shipped the work.

The Kardashians. Call of Duty. Elvis. The Hunger Games. ABC News. ...

Twenty years of real deadlines builds a certain kind of judgment.
I bring that into your project, whether you need the work made or just need to figure out what to make first.

Two ways I can help.

MAKE

High-end motion and visual storytelling. Execution that holds up under real deadlines and real audiences. You need the work done right and on time, that’s this.

GUIDE

Creative diagnostics, AI integration, system decisions. When something isn’t working and you’re not sure why, or you need someone to help you figure out what to build before you build it, that’s this.

Bridge line:

Most clients start needing one and end up using both.

How I work

I show up when it's close but not landing.

I listen first, ask hard questions, and help define what actually needs to be solved. Most projects don’t fail at the start.
They fail in the final stretch, where clarity drops, decisions stall, and the gap between what it is and what it needs to be starts feeling impossible to close.

That’s the moment I’m built for.

I don’t come in with a framework and a deck. I look at what’s actually happening, say what I see, and help get the work across the line.
Sometimes that means making something.
Sometimes it means stopping something.
Usually both.

I built the race tracking system I compete with. I’ve pulled people to shore mid-race.

Calm under pressure isn’t a skill I developed

it’s just how it feels normal.

My Services

What I help move forward

Most projects don’t stall because of talent.
They stall because decisions lose clarity.

I help teams regain direction, build what matters, and move forward with confidence.

MAKE

High-end motion. Visual systems. Production that ships.
Work that feels intentional, finished, and confident.

FIX

Creative workflows and production systems that support the work instead of fighting it. Faster output without losing voice or standards.

UNBLOCK

Honest direction when things feel stuck, creative decisions, process problems, or where AI actually fits. Momentum, alignment, fewer expensive wrong turns.

Not theory. Built and tested.

→ Built a live race tracking and spectator narrative system for a 300-mile open water race

while actively competing in it as an athlete.

→ Diagnosed a broadcast motion system mid-project that was shipping the wrong version to air.

Fixed it in 48 hours without a restart.

→ Currently helping two founders integrate AI into their creative workflows

without replacing the judgment that makes their work worth having.

FAQ

What you might want to know.

Are you available for freelance work?

Yes. I’ve been freelancing since 2011, and I am comfortable stepping into established teams and processes.

Do you work directly with clients or within teams?

Both. I’m comfortable collaborating with in-house teams, or working directly with clients.

How long do projects typically run?

Anywhere from a few days to several months, depending on scope and goals.

What is your freelance rate?

I work on a day rate or a project rate, depending on the scope. I don’t bill hourly. Reach out and I’ll share details.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

I primarily work remotely, which allows projects to move faster and more efficiently. On-site work is possible when it adds real value to the project.

Do you use AI in your work?

Yes, when it helps reduce friction or speed up exploration. Final decisions, creative direction, and what actually ships are always human-led.
